THE COURSE Four sessions to explore ceramics, develop your creativity and bring your own ideas to life through clay. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience, this course introduces you to the fundamental techniques of handbuilding — pinching, slab building and coiling — while giving you the freedom to develop your own personal project. Rather than making a different object in every class, you can choose to work on one piece over several sessions, taking the time to explore its shape, refine its details and experiment with surface decoration. Alongside the basic construction techniques, you will discover different ways to decorate your work, including coloured slips (engobes), sgraffito and other surface treatments, adding texture, patterns and personal expression to your creations. Classes are intentionally small, with 2 to a maximum of 4 participants, allowing everyone to work at their own pace and receive individual guidance throughout the creative process. No previous experience is required. I will guide you step by step, helping you develop both the technical skills and the confidence to experiment with clay. BRING YOUR OWN IDEAS Your project, your creativity, your pace. This course is not about everyone making the same objects. It is about learning the techniques and discovering how to use them to express your own ideas. If you have something you would like to create, bring it with you — a photograph, a sketch, an inspiring object or simply an idea. Together, we will explore how to bring your project to life, choosing the most suitable clay, construction techniques and decorative finishes. The four sessions can be adapted to your individual project, whether you AFTER THE COURSE After the four lessons, your pieces will remain in the studio and I will take care of the finishing process. Once completely dry, they will be bisque fired at 950°C, glazed with a transparent glaze or another glaze of your choice from those available in the studio, and then fired again at 1230°C. Your finished pieces will be ready for collection from the studio by appointment approximately one month later. From clay in your hands to a finished ceramic piece, you will have experienced the complete ceramic process. STUDIO CARE Taking care of the tools and workspace is part of the ceramic practice. At the end of each lesson, we will set aside a little time to clean the tools and tidy our workspaces, leaving the studio ready for the next session.
