SONG

The Song series is characterized by a duality between two glazes: a metallic bronze on the outside, like a shield, which protects a deep red, symbol of passion and life. I chose to name it Song because the place where the two glazes meet forms a mixture of random and mysterious colors, like the notes of a song.

BACK TO BLACK

In the Back to Black series, I wanted to return to the primordial elements of the Earth. The ceramics in the collection are fashioned from finely chamotte black sandstone, left as is on the outside. It is reminiscent of the black lava of the Italian Vulcans and the wild and powerful eruptions.

Topaz, ruby, sapphire and diamond come from magmatic crystallization. The crystals, generated at great depths, can then be brought to the surface by lava during volcanic eruptions. To recall the beautiful colors of the precious stones surrounded by the black magma, I decided to glaze the interiors of my pieces with brilliant colors obtained through a complex process. It involves various stages from engobe to glazing.

This is necessary due to the peculiar behavior of this particular sandstone. It behaves a little like a black hole, no color that gets in touch with it is allowed to escape.

KITCHEN LAB

Kitchen Lab is a series of minimalistic and organic design. It is dedicated to those who like cooking and enjoy their meals in simple and playful ceramics. Characterized by a gray-blue glaze for the interiors and by the rough and warm surface of raw sandstone on the outside, I wanted to create unique utilitarian pieces for your daily life.

SEA URCHINS

The Sea Urchins series brings together unique and decorative ceramics inspired by the richness of ocean life. I have always been fascinated by these marine organisms with their pentaradial symmetry, characteristic of their odd and mysterious architecture. Each sea urchin pushes me to study the anatomy of this animal and spend several hours to restore it. This series, the result of time-consuming and meticulous work in the workshop, pays tribute to their architectural beauty.

RAKU

The Raku series is a collection of ceramic objects made of chamotte stoneware, which is stronger than smooth stoneware thanks to the thermal shocks they must withstand, typical of raku firing.

I have only partially glazed the surface, protecting the decorative marks which are made black by the smoke. The incandescent pieces are taken out from the oven and placed on a bed of vegetable matter which catches fire providing its unique black.

The term raku is the abbreviation of the Japanese term raku-yaki 楽 焼: "comfortable firing" or "happy firing"... I would dare to add: magical firing!
